Conversation With Jacki Jones

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: I was born and still live in Liverpool and come from a big family.  I had a mix of music to listen to growing up through my parents and sibling including Elvis, Simon and Garfunkel. Fleetwood mac, The Clash. U2 and David Bowie.  I also learned a lot about The Beatles in school and just grew to love all types of music.  At age 11 I decided i wanted to learn the guitar and keyboard and that was it for me I couldn’t get enough.

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Jacki Jones”?

A: I hope to get a lot of streams through other peoples playlists I have been added on.  I also have had been mentioned in stories online and Tik Tok/you tube videos.  If the numbers add up I would get a band together to do as many live shows as possible.  I just want people to enjoy my songs and hopefully they can relate to the lyrics. My songs are a mix of meaningful/love and life topics so should be something there for everyone.

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A: my inspiration can come from life experiences but also anything around me from books to passing conversations.  The slightest thing can give me an idea for a song.  The artists I would say inspire me are manly older artists like David Bowie, Cheap trick, Queen but listening to any music can give me inspiration. I love Harry Styles and 5 seconds of summer.

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Soundtrack to the strange.”?

A: Soundtrack to the strange is actually based on a real person bit I wont name names LOL.  Its about that toxic person in your life that wants full control and thinks they know best but deep down they are very insecure and everyone sees right through them.  When you see the true person you realise just how bad they are.

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: That’s a hard one.  Genre wise Indiepop but as for a general word different exciting maybe

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Soundtrack to the strange”?

A: Writing no but I did have technical difficulties recording it.  I had nearly finished the whole track when my pro tools session crashed.  When I went back into it the song had disappeared.  I had to start all over again putting me back a few days but its all good.

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: My message would be that no matter what you go through we are in the same boat and have experienced the same issues one way or another so just enjoy life.  My goals are to get as many songs to the world for people to enjoy and hopefully in the process gain some real recognition in the industry.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: Wow so many but would have to say Freddie Mercury or David Bowie and living remaining members of Queen Brian May, Roger Taylor also Adam Lambert.  Would also love to work with Paul McCartney and cheap trick.  Newer artist would be Harry Styles love him.

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: Don’t ever give up on your dream.  Yes it hard work and life can get in the way but do what makes you happy and never stop.

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: Again don’t give up on your dream and don’t let  ife steer you away from your true love of music. If it makes you happy never stop.
