PennyTrip – Pins & Needles

PennyTrip’s new single, “Pins & Needles” is one of the best rock records we’ve heard in months. This track stands out with its creative and professional production. The vocal mixing is excellent making each line clear and impactful. The instrumentation is simply amazing. The guitars and bass lines are rich and full while the drum work adds the perfect punch to the song. The lyrics are capturing the essence of hindsight and the importance of time. The vocal performance is also on another level conveying deep emotions and drawing the listener in.

Josh Chamblee, the songwriter, shares that the song is inspired by his own experiences with procrastination and the realization that time is precious. He reflects on the idea of waking up years later, wishing he had done things differently. This message is something many of us can relate to, making the song even more powerful.

During the pandemic, Josh started writing and recording demos of songs that had been forming in his head for months. He collaborated with his old friend, Brad White, a recording engineer and guitarist, to bring these ideas to life. Their informal sessions led to the formation of PennyTrip, along with Robbie Drake on drums and Steven Nash on bass. Together, they created an alternative rock band with a shoegaze nuance.

The song’s message about the value of time is something I think about often, and the way PennyTrip has expressed this through their music is both inspiring and thought-provoking. “Pins & Needles” definitely deserves a spot in our rock playlist. It’s a song that reminds us not to waste a single second and to appreciate the time we have. PennyTrip has truly crafted a masterpiece with this single and we can’t wait to hear more from them

ABOUT THE BAND:

During the pandemic, Josh Chamblee did what a lot of musicians with “day jobs” did. He started writing and recording demos of songs that had been forming in his head for months. Once he had a few, he approached his old friend, recording engineer, and guitarist, Brad White of Divine Shakes, to lay down some tracks. These informal sessions commenced a new band and a new sound for the two life-long friends. After recruiting Josh’s former Enveneer bandmates, Robbie Drake (drums) and Steven Nash (bass), PennyTrip formed into an alternative rock band with a shoegaze nuance. Because of the band members diverse influences, the four can agree that Nirvana, Bush, Superheaven, Jimmy Eat World, Silverchair, and The Smashing Pumpkins highly rank in how they want to shape their sound. The Birmingham, Alabama four-piece writes lyrics reflecting individuality and finding oneself in middle age. The surrounding sound invokes influences from youth into thought provoking compositions where one can touch the past and contemplate the future.
