Conversation With JEEBO

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: I feel like we were the last generation of good music. You know, the music at this current moment, and I’m talking charts- or you may say pop radio stations, isn’t inspiring at all. Of course music is subjective. And let’s just hope that the youngsters nowadays are going back to 60’s 70’s and are really listening to the music of those times.

Our taste as a band is versatile we all love different genres of music and are influenced by our parents and grandparents- I have memories of my grandfather playing ‘boogie woogie’ on his piano when I was younger. Which lead me to dive into rock n roll and rocks evolution. I guess that’s where the songwriting and focus to simple story telling has come from.

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “JEEBO”?

A: Theatrics in music aren’t where they once were. Live bands; who plug in and play are slowly dying away. Sure there’s a million bands out there, but there aren’t many ‘Artists’ – we would love to be considered an artist and hope our craft of songwriting is admired. We are strange but most people who have an interest in art are nowadays…

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A:  Inspiration comes from life. Sometimes as personal as feeling something ourselves or the idea of wearing someone else’s shoes, we don’t do that as much as we should. Give yourself a break from the weight on your shoulders. Indulge and dive into someone else or something else. The most inspirational thing at the moment is being able to pick up the guitar. It would be a dream to have more time to sit and create as a band- work and the world doesn’t wait and we’d love to have time to just be able to pick our instruments up and create.

The most inspiring artist right now is

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “giants.”?

A: The story came from the perspective of Kurt Cobain’s obsession with wanting to be an alien from another planet. It got us thinking what would an alien think if they really came to Earth. We’ve designed a weird world where we have to do everything the hard way and then I guess in a cruel way die. Would aliens get onto the hype of drinking to make yourself feel better or would they just feel better? Would they be have a superior knowledge conspired to an earthling. It becomes a love story in a weird way, the alien can’t  help but fall for the human that they invade and control as the host and the human cannot comprehend any other feeling but confusion when the alien is loving them.

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: Theatrical

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “giants”?

A: Challenges are fun and I can’t wait to hit the next brick wall creatively. I’m sure there were dozens of challenges making giants, but they were obviously so fun I cannot name one. The only challenge for us is money. Anything else in a creative sense is fun and we dive our big old teeth into the art of songwriting & song creation.

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: A message from us to YOU! Don’t be so serious, treat yourself. Let your hair down and rock out. Enjoy the weirdness of the world- the more you dwell on those darn silly things that make life harder, the more stress you’ll endure. Be more alien be less human. A big goal for us would be a big headliner and some more festival dates this year. We want to play as many shows to new fans as possible.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: Wunderhorse Jacob has an incredible talent for songwriting and transitions from soft vocals to raw in a slip of a coin.

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: You control the path to what you perceive as success. Be cut throat. Write down all the steps that will lead you to your goal. How will you get there? Music doesn’t have to be business but it does involve money so get ready to shed when you have to.

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: Find the right people. Find people you feel comfortable with and start the band. Start the dream earlier rather than later. Times ticking always. Work hard and work harder. Nothings going to stop you but you.
